The Difference Betwwn Gate Valve and Globe Valve

From the appearnce, gate valve and globe valve are similar, but from the structure and performance, in fact, there are some difference.

Structure
The structure of gate valve will be more complex than that of globe valve. In terms of appearance, under the same diameter, gate valve is higher than globe valve and globe valve is longer than gate valve. In addition, gate valve has the difference between the ring stem and the no-rising stem, but globe valve have none.

How to working
When the globe valve rotates the hand wheel, the hand wheel will rotate and lift with the stem. The gate valve is to rotate the hand wheel to make the stem move up and down, and the position of the hand wheel itself remains unchanged.

Gate valves are required to be fully open or closed, while globe valves are not required.

The inlet and outlet directions of globe valve are specified; The gate valve has no inlet and outlet direction requirements.

The gate valve only has two states of full open or full closed, the gate gate has a large opening and closing stroke and a long opening and closing time. The movement stroke of the valve plate of the stop valve is much smaller, and the valve plate of the stop valve can stop at a certain place in the movement for flow regulation. The gate valve can only be used for truncation without other functions.

Performance
The globe valve can not only be used for cut-off, but also for flow regulation. The fluid resistance of the globe valve is relatively large, and it is difficult to open and close, but because the distance between the valve plate and the sealing surface is short, the opening and closing stroke is short.

Because the gate valve can only be fully opened and fully closed, when it is fully opened, the medium flow resistance in the channel of the valve body is almost zero, so the opening and closing of the gate valve is very labor-saving, but the distance between the gate and the sealing surface is far, and the opening and closing time is long.
